ACTS OF 1934
Securities Exchange Act: This act sought to rid the stock
market of an epidemic of unfair and dishonest practices. It also created
the Securities and Exchange Commission to carry out its regulations.
Trade Agreement Act: This act attempted to end the trade wars
brought on by the Smoot-Hawley Tariff, reducing tariffs with other trade
nations by mutual agreement. Nonetheless, trade wars would still be the
norm around the globe until the advent of real war.
