Site Purpose, Scope, etc...

PURPOSE or I set up this site for the following reasons...

I've done a bunch of stuff that a few people around the world may be interested in.
I wish to find out if my ideas about web sites are practicable.
I believe it is a good idea to have a personal web site if one communicates via the internet as much as I do. This allows people to gain a better understanding of who they are dealing with if they care to.

SCOPE or What you may find here:

I have set up pages on this site for a variety of things that interest me. The best way to identify those that may intrest you is the tListe applet to the left. The amount of detail is a function of my level of expertise, my interest and is also time dependent. If you suspect that I have some info that you would like, don't hesitate to ask by e-mail. E-mail feedback is appreciated and will change my site construction priorities!

Theory of Site Operation or I've surfed the web long enough to know what I like.

I like decent performance. I hate it when I have to wait forever for lots of graphics, Java applets, etc are loaded in. At the same time, I like graphics and Java applets! In trying to work around this problem, I have set things up so that If you want to see a graphic (i.e. my demo project on what was once the largest building in Oregon), you generally must opt to see them.
I like to be able to stay un-lost. This can be a problem on a site as diverse as this one. I've said it before and I'll say it again...Use the tListe applet on the left. In general, the internal links on this site are more or less tree-like. This is to help me in ongoing site construction, to allow the tListe applet to work more efficiently, and because I find it more intuitive. From time to time, I will break this general rule.
I like links to interesting sites but I hate finding them lumped together even when the lump has some structure. I've got a load of links to interesting sites and whenever possible, I have incorporated them in places where they are relevant to the content of my site.

If you are fooling around with these primitive links, than the tListe applet is not being used! This is fine, but for technical reasons the tListe will not automatically update itself to indicate where you are.
