Quick-N-Dirty entry:
I attempted to minimize deflections to reduce the propensity for joint failure. Also, the interplay of the ideas of energy & work, work=force*dist, etc are interesting to think about. Oh ya...Eulers formula for elastic buckling is worth considering, at least in concept!
